After Visiting Yafe House: A Little Haven
The soft pastel yellow of Yafe House stands out against the grey houses nearby, radiating warmth and welcome. Stepping inside the workshop, I’m instantly surrounded by a calm, peaceful vibe. It’s like a little haven, tucked away from the chaos and hustle of the towns I pass through to get here. Gentle morning light filters in, adding a cozy glow to the neatly arranged room. Yafe House is more than just a workspace—it’s a place for healing and growth. Here, women who have faced trauma find both employment and a path to recovery, guided every step of the way by Jen, the kind-hearted founder.
Deeply rooted in the community, Yafe House gives back by welcoming local residents. Amid the gentle hum of sewing machines, you can hear the joyful laughter of children from a nearby room. A few times a week, kids from the community come to learn and play with the young daughter of a staff member, filling the space with life and energy. Women from the neighbourhood also come by for weekly sewing sessions and group activities with the Yafe team, building bonds and sparking creativity. Here, adults can laugh, relax, and be themselves in an environment of trust, where they’re free to express who they are without any fear of judgment.
At Yafe House, there’s beauty not only in the vibrant bags, clothes, and cushions the team creates, but also in the stories of resilience and transformation that unfold here. There is so much to celebrate—this is a place of nurturing, growth, connection, and inclusion, where God’s goodness shines through every corner. I believe that in the rich soil of His love, anyone has the chance to bloom and flourish. May Yafe House continue to grow as a beautiful garden, showcasing the unique colours and shapes of each life touched and transformed.
