Together, We Grow
Returning to Yafe House after two months away truly felt like coming home. Walking through those doors again, I was met with a sense of joy, knowing our small, dedicated team had kept everything running smoothly—and not just that; they’d thrived. Their sewing skills have taken flight, and their confidence has grown remarkably. They managed so well in my absence.
During a lunchtime together, one of our team members shared, “We’re like a big family.” Hearing those words brought me comfort. When I asked her what made her feel this way, she simply replied, “We can talk and share together in a safe environment.” Her words touched me deeply, reminding me that we are indeed creating a space where everyone feels free to share their thoughts, and even the more challenging moments of life.
Looking back over the years, I see how much our team has blossomed. There is a deepening sense of understanding, acceptance, and empathy for each other, and it’s becoming more evident every day. I wonder if this connectedness stems from our shared grounding in our Creator, who loves and cares for us so deeply. Together, we are learning to share in the joys and challenges of life’s journey, growing stronger through it all.
I am reminded of the towering General Sherman Tree in Kings Canyon National Park—the tallest tree in the world, as high as a 26-story building and surrounded by a forest of neighbouring trees. Some of these ancient giants have survived thousands of years, enduring countless storms and challenges. Their secret to resilience? Their roots grow deep and intertwine, creating a network of support that sustains each tree’s strength.
At Yafe House, we hope to root ourselves in the Creator who formed us. Like those mighty trees, our team is interwoven, ready to support one another through every challenge. As we journey together, may we continue to grow in ways that strengthen both our personal and communal bonds—together, we grow.
With warmth,
Jen (Founder, Yafe House)
