At Yafe House, we often speak of healing, empowerment, and new beginnings. But sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures that echo the deepest.

Meera*, one of our longest-standing artisans, recently brought snacks to share with the children who attend our daily Yafe Kids Club at Yafe House. It was her son’s birthday, and in her gentle, generous way, she wanted to celebrate by giving. She didn’t have much. But she had something far more valuable: the heart to share what she had.

The children, who come each day to colour, write, and play, were absolutely delighted. And I stood there, moved not by the snacks themselves, but by the quiet beauty of her kindness.

Meera has journeyed far—through hardship, healing, and now, hope. Today, she teaches and walks alongside younger women at Yafe House, guiding them with a patience and strength that only comes from someone who’s been there too.

She reminds us: kindness doesn’t depend on abundance. It flows from compassion, courage, and a heart that sees others.

We’re so grateful for Meera—and for every small but powerful act that makes this place what it is.
